description: "Potnia Theron", Greek for "Mistress of Animals": Fresco from the bronze age excavation site of akrotiri on the Greek island Santorini. This fresco is interpreted as showing a goddess on the right hand site, seated on a throne, protected by a griffin behind her, that she holds on a leash. To the left and in front of her a monkey depicted in blue offers a bowl to her with raised arms, while a young woman pours flowers of the saffron crocus in a large bowl. The fresco is part of a large wall painting, dubbed the "saffron gatherers", that covers two walls in an upper floor room of the building "Xeste 3". This building interpreted to be a place of initiation and rites of passage due to an adyton in the group floor and diverse frescoes all over the building.

description: Young boxers fresco, akrotiri, Greece. This fresco depicts two naken children wearing a belt and boxing gloves. Their head is shaved, excepted two long locks on the back, and two shorter on the forehead. Their dark skin indicates their gender. The boy at left is more reserved, and wears jewelry (bracelets, necklace) which indicates a high social status. Work from the same artist of the Antilops fresco. Room B1, building B in akrotiri.
