description: abu - simbel - Mr René Maheu, Director - General of the Unesco attended the inauguration ceremony of the abu - simbel Temples, the reconstruction of which is now completed on their new site. The transfer of the temples to an elevated site was accomplished as a result of the International Campaign for the saving of the Nubian monuments, launched by Unesco in 1960. Mr. Maheu is seen here during an interview in front of the Great Temple.
